The latest and seventh Euan’s Guide Access Survey is now live and open to comments from members of the public. It aims to measure the impact of the pandemic and lockdown measures on disabled access provision in the UK.
According to the Edinburgh Reporter, the survey is considered to be even more important this year in a post-pandemic reality, and is the largest of its kind, and is being supported for the first time by Motability operations. It will ask anyone who has had to consider disabled access to share their opinions.
Euan MacDonald, the co-founder of Euan’s Guide, said: “This survey is extremely important in establishing how the disruption of 2020-21 has affected disabled people, their families, friends and carers and whether the pandemic has pushed back the progress of accessibility.”
He urged anyone who has had to consider disabled access to make their voice heard on the impact of COVID-19 on accessibility.
Previous surveys revealed that historic castles had greater accessibility than pubs, and a huge 93 per cent of respondents say they look for disabled access information before visiting anywhere.

Euan’s Guide was founded in 2013 by Euan MacDonald MBE and his sister Kiki after Euan was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease and a lack of disabled access made everyday experiences stressful.
Having access to good quality disabled access information inspires confidence and removes the fear of the unknown. It breaks down the barriers of exclusion and makes it easier for disabled people to find great places to go.
