Mr C was beginning to find his bath a little difficult to use and wanted to replace it with a shower that would be easier to access. So, he decided to look for a suitable firm on Which Trusted Traders.
How to find a reputable accessible bathroom fitter
Which? Trusted Traders is a useful review site for people seeking to verify the reputation of a company they are considering for work in their home. Under this scheme, Which? applies the same rigorous testing they do to their product and service Best Buys, to local tradespeople. Trades who apply for Which? Trusted Trader status earn the right to use the Which? Trusted Trader logo only once they’ve passed a similar assessment and endorsement process. Consumers can then rest assured that when they select a company displaying the Which? Trusted Trader logo, they’ve chosen someone with a reputation they can trust.
Absolute Mobility are proud to be listed on both Which? Trusted Traders and Checkatrade, where people can see the reviews people have given us for carrying out work in their bathroom – please look us up for yourself!

Replacing an old bath with new easy access shower
Removing a bath and replacing it with a much easier to access shower is one of the more popular jobs we do. As mobility changes, our customers find a step free shower enclosure easier, and safer, to negotiate than a bath with high sides.
Mr C already had a bath in a tiled alcove with an above bath shower. This was situated in the correct location for the new shower arrangement. As he was happy enough with the existing shower and tiling, we agreed to remove the bath and install a new shower tray and doors. We would then tile the bottom half of the walls down to the new shower tray.
Mr C thought he might wish to add a free-standing shower chair in future, so we were able to reassure him that all the shower trays we install are guaranteed to withstand this additional weight. Many basic shower trays are unable to do this and often fail when the weight of a person and shower chair are combined.
Our pictures below show the old bath with shower screen, and the new non slip shower tray being fitted in the footprint of the old bath.
This is just one example of how we can adapt a bathroom with a bathtub to accommodate a new shower that is easier to access.
If you or a loved one require a similar adaptation to replace a bath with an easy to access walk in shower, please get in touch with Absolute Mobility on 0800 2922 110 or [email protected]. We’d be happy to talk through your requirements and provide you with advice on suitable configurations and cost.
